Herb Weisbaum, ConsumerMan on MSNBC.com, has come up with a way to dramatically increase the sales of car mats. In his recent article, Are Amish fireplace claims a bunch of hot air?, he compares the claims for the Heat Surge Roll-n-Glow Fireplace to the sale of floor mats. In his factual, but humorous article, he points out that these “free” fireplaces are only available if you buy a $298 wood mantle. Their “miracle ” heaters are nothing more than an electric space heater with a wood mantle around it.
He ends his article with the following line:
“Imagine if a car dealer advertised free cars with every $20,000 set of floor mats. Everyone would laugh at such a ridiculous offer.”
We have not added floor mats for $20,000 to Mats4Less.com yet, but I will bring it up at the next product review meeting.
